What is the difference between spiral staircases and helical staircases?

Spiral staircases form a complete circle, and have a tighter radius than a helical staircase. They can be manufactured using a variety of materials including steel, timber and glass.

Another feature to look out for is the central column that spiral staircases have to support the treads. Other curved staircases do not have this feature, making it a good way to determine what a spiral staircase is.

How big is a spiral staircase?

Generally, spiral staircases are known for their efficiency when it comes to use of space. The tighter radius of the stair means they require less space than other styles, but also provide a very unique look compared to other styles.
