Project Summary:

We were recommended for this bespoke staircase project by K&D Joinery, with a design brief that aimed to closely replicate a reference image featuring a highly minimal, floating tread aesthetic.

The key challenge was achieving the illusion of “floating” European Oak treads without visible structural support, particularly ensuring that the low iron laminated glass remained discreet and compliant with safety regulations regarding edge distances from the concealed steel tread fixings. Through careful engineering and precision detailing, we delivered a solution that blends architectural elegance with structural integrity.

The finished result is a stunning centrepiece within the home, featuring:

→ European Oak treads with hidden steel supports

→ Low iron laminated glass balustrades and structural side panels, allowing full transparency and minimal visual obstruction

→ Matching Oak handrails for a warm, seamless look

→ Brass balustrade base trims, providing a refined transition between materials
